Thanks to everyone that came out and competed in the CUSVA Season Opener. Overall, the tournament went pretty smooth, the only exception were the issues caused by the Fraternity Party being hosted at the same time.
Tim Wooliver and Daniel Lindsey defeated Caine Cambron and Bryan Craver to take first place in the CUSVA Season Opener. This tournament had 17 teams in the Mens Open division. The team of Trey Henderson/Shaun Dawson finished third, as did Jason Pondrom/Chad Mays.
In the Womens Open division, Jayna Baker and Kelly Larkin defeated Beckie Henderson and Courtney Trevino to win the event. Marci Brinkman/Becca Duty and Yolanda Munoz/Mary Martinez took third. The Womens Open division had 15 teams.
In the Mens A division, Randy Weideman and Chris Wehrweine defeated Mike Fiorentino and Greg Vestal. Kris Peterson/Tony Wehner and Max Pediford/Josh Horner took third. Dayton Arrellano/Austin Hartline and Rowdy Pajares/John Malazzo took fifth. The Mens A division had 9 teams.
The registration is now open for the April 4th, Season Opener, being held at Yucatan Beach Club.

Well, it seems as if the King/Queen of the Beach was a smashing success once again this year. With all divisions filling up completely. The season opening tournament had 32 players in Mens Open, 20 players in Womens Open, and 12 players in Mens A.
Jayna Baker took home the Queen of the Beach honors in the womens Open division. Yolanda Munoz finished second and Beckie Johnson took third. Angie Orrender and Jill Ruskowski rounded out the final group.
Randy Weideman was the King of the Beach in the mens A division. Chris Wehrwine finished second.
The mens Open division ended in a draw, with all five players splitting the prize money. The guys were tired and ready to go home. The final group consisted of Trey Henderson, Skyler Davis, Daniel Lindsey, Kahle Lewis and Will Johnson. They did attempt to finish the tournament, but all seemed content with just splitting the money.
Congratulations to all the top finishers and thanks to everyone for coming out and making the event a success. Hopefully, you'll all be coming back for the April 4th event. Find your partners and start practicing.
MENS OPEN IS FULL. THERE IS STILL A CHANCE THAT I WILL BE MOVING SOME PLAYERS DOWN TO THE A DIVISION. THE REASON FOR THIS IS TO MAKE SURE I HAVE 2 DIVISIONS. THERE ARE STILL SPOTS IN MENS A DIVISION, WOMENS OPEN, AND WOMENS A.
AS YOU CAN SEE, THE DATE OF THE TOURNAMENT HAS CHANGED. IF I STILL HAVE YOU LISTED AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO ATTEND, PLEASE SEND ME AN EMAIL.
Welcome to the 2009 CUSVA Volleyball Season.
This year, like many years in the past, the CUSVA is kicking off the season with a King/Queen of the Beach tournament. These tournaments are great to start the season, because most people haven’t been playing much and certainly don’t have a partner lined up for the season. This tournament will give everyone the opportunity to play with different players, and potentially pick up a partner for the upcoming tournament series.

I realize that we had some issue’s last year when figuring out who will advance from a pool. If, in the event that you are tied with someone with record and points, the tie breaker will be that the player that was seeded higher in the tournament will advance. Hopefully this will clear things up for the future.
To register for the tournament, either email me steven@cusva.com call 214-493-9380, or logon to www.cusva.comand click the schedule link.
Since this is a King/Queen of the Beach, please register early because space is limited.
The tournament director reserves the right to move players down a division in order to make all divisions more competitive.
